How to use the Age Calculator

  1. Enter the date of birth.
  2. Leave “Age on” as today, or change it to any other date.
  3. Read the exact age, plus the total days lived and the countdown to the next birthday.

How the age is calculated

The calculator counts whole years first, then whole months, then the days left over. For example, someone born on 15 May 1990 is 36 years, 5 months and 12 days old on 27 October 2026: 36 birthdays, then five more monthly anniversaries (15 June to 15 October), then 12 days.

Month ends and leap years

  • When a month is shorter than the birth date allows, the last day of that month is used. Someone born on 31 January has their one-month mark on 28 February (or 29 in a leap year).
  • People born on 29 February are counted as a year older on 28 February in years that aren't leap years. Some countries use 1 March instead for legal purposes, so check local rules if you need an official age.
  • Leap days are included in the total days count.

Time zones

“Today” is based on the date on your device. Ages are calculated in whole days, so the time of birth isn't considered.
